It is truly appauling listening to some of these politicians speak when they are truly showing what they are made of. Since watching the rachel maddow show 2 days ago i have come to see rand paul in a different light not as a racist but a person living in a bubble. For all the certification he might of accumulated during his college attendance he is still living in the past.Be it the 1950 that he is still stuck in not in body but in his mind that he like his father before him think discrimanation is alright in a free world.'
From watching him i see he is not the type of person that should be in washington working on legislation for our country. Even though i have no say in that because i am not in kentucky so i do not have a vote i urge them to vote democrat. We as a people can't afford to go back to a time when a minority could not eat in a white owned business. To a time when minorities we're beaten because of the color of their skin. Is this the type of world that senate candidate is speaking of this is his vision of the united states did he forget that in the declaration of indepedence it says we are all equal.
Even as i would like to condemned him by calling him a racist i will not because he is not. He's view of liberty for all is misguided and no matter what is said by myself or someone else theres no changing it. My only problem is what does he think does he see minorities as inferior since white folks are the majority. A racist no but his ideas and thoughts on how the united states should be towards civil rights is despicable.
Is this the type of person the republican party wish to adopt into their party someone with a bigoted point of view. Someone who does not agree with the desegragation of private business because it goes against the first amendment. As he tried to defend his argument he turned it into a fight for a 2nd amendment stand for people who want to carry guns. In my mind i wonder what is he talking about since it was obvious he was not going to respond to direct questioning from rachel. Throughout the segment it was obvious that those ideals iss what he stands for and it was only when he appeared on conservative talk radio when he felt comfortable.
The next day all he did slip back from one stance to another when confronted with questioning about his stance on the civil rights act of 1964. Then to top it off fox news brings in someone to back up doctor rand paul another libertarian thinker who feels like minorities should be segregated away from white folks.
As a liberal i do wish that government come in to stop things like discrimanation because this is a free country. Have these folks forgotten that have they read the constitution or they just go by that part or just see it as a typo.
Doctor paul trying to be the big oil company hero today saying the u.s. is being too tough on bp.Does this man ever use his brain or does he just talk without ever bringing logic to his words just runs his mouth like a kid.
After all this it is obvious that his view is no where near where mine is so to that degree i leave it there for future discussion.

Gone on super tuesday?
Super tuesday is here and specter and lincoln are hoping for the best. As a liberal they both should be gone since they are not liberal enough.Lincoln is too conservative basically because she did everything to kill healthcare reform and specter is just a democrat because he needed his job.
I do think that specter has brought money to his state and that should be a priority and that should be applauded. I think switching parties is not a great thing if you are just doing it to save your own job. He is cozy with washington that is going to hurt specter with this so called anti-incumbent year.
Joe sestak a 3 star admiral forced to leave because of poor command climate thus ending 31 year of service. With my sister in the army,I have to applaud sestak for not wanting to cut costs in the navy. A brilliant move showing specter with bush and sarah palin,a regular on psycho talk, how can liberals support specter I for one can't.
Blanche lincoln struggling in her primary is showing liberals are standing up for change. She was not on board for healthcare reform she was against the public option she wanted to ride center right. This type of representation is not the type of change arkansawas looking for.
Bill halter running on change like obama did in 2008 and that is why the race is close. Then he is willing to fight the anti-establishment like his lottery initiative. Attacking lincoln on receiving donations from goldman sachs and well point, cutting medicare, and giving the wealthy tax cuts even with our debt.
In my opinion the liberals to fight for change we are tired of elected democrats not working towards change. Obstructing the president in every major legislation is only making the left coming out in waves. We wanted change when we made obama the first black president in united states. Change is working and because of this we need more progressives in congress so liberals make your voices heard out in arkansas and pensylvannia.Good luck progressives!

An end to bi-partisanship?
2009 came and went and all Obama came out of that was no supporrt from the republicans. He ran his campaign with wanting bi-partisanship so the country can achieve more than what we had done in the last 8 years. He ran on yes we can we can change to build america in a bigger force internationally.
In the last year we saw stimulus bill, the financial bailout, the auto bailout, and the healthcare reform bill. I understand that everyone feels like all of these things look like wasteful spending. But i think americans need to realize what obama had on his plate when coming into office last year.
First of the stimulus bill is working no matter what conservatives are saying. Even as republicans that voted against it are seeing the effects in their community as they reap the benefits of the bill. As republicans talk of fiscal conservatism it is they who brought us the recession with their wasteful spending during their time in the majority. Tax cuts for the rich, two wars which in my point of view only one being started without any real reason other than personal vengeance. After all this they still talk about they want the majority back to lead us back to a recession.
As for the financial bailout i do have mixed feelings about that but i also know that it was needed for our future. We can't let these intitutions fail without any plan on how to survive after that, that is why i support the new financial reform bill because it laids out a plan for these too big too fail banks. It is because of these banks and their decisions to invest in secrecy that put the american people in this recession. I think we should regulate derivatives so that they are more transperant so they are no longer in the dark.
As for the auto bailout i can only say it was needed because i for one i do not want to see general motors going down. What would you have said to the millions of folks that woulkd have lost their jobs due to gm going down. Plus the upside they have paid back their loan so that in itself is great to know that the money was not a waste.
Then health care reform was done which was truly needed in a country that premiums skyrocket every year. What i really like about the bill is that no one can be denied because of a pre-existing condition that wouldserve a lot of sick folks great.I know the fight for reform was bigger than anticipatedbut i think in the end it will help more than the one's who we're against it.
Now after listening to obama attack the republicans this past thursday i feel he is doing the best thing to help his congressmen. In my honest opinion i think he should have done that since before the healthcare bill was up for passage. I understand he was looking for bi-partisan support but the righties were all about obstructionism instead of offering ideas towards better legislation but instead they were just saying no to everything.

Boycotting the police state
Let me start by saying this topic has me fired up no im not ed shultz.By the way i love his show but to the subject now. As a mexican american living in nebraska and part of a union i hope this type of law does not come here.Arizona first passes the paper's ,please law and now they have gone further right by banning ethnic studies. Banning certain parts of american history is that not racist in nature.
Is this not the state that did not want to recognize martin luther king birthday. Now they do not want people to even have the option to study their own history be it they are african american, asian american,or a latino like myself.
Thinking back to my high school days during my sophomore year i took mexican american history so that i can learn more about my history. I learned and found out how pancho villa fought for regular folks but at the same time i learned he was not a great person. In arizona they have passed a law taking away the option to learn one's history. Taking away something that is not required only to make the racist folks in that state feel great.
Are they still feeling great knowing that they have lost at least 90 million. With so many events being cancelled my thinking is how far they will go along with law. This is the united states and money talks and tourism will drop in arizona can they survive losing this money. The one thing that is ironic is they did not get the republic convention in 2012 be it that conservatives we're in favor for the law. Their biggest star in that state is Mccain in he supports it the use to be maverick is trying to please the tea party the fringe of the republican party.
A conservative state education chief running for attorney general tom horne actually thinks this is the way to get to that position. Then targets rodolfo acuena for writing about the history of chicanos so he is willfully targeting hispanics. We may not be 1500 tea party idiots wanting smaller government but do not want the government to touch medicare and social security. We may not be out there arguing against reform but have no idea what's in the bill to actually put up a decent argument. We may not be out there complaining about paying higher taxes even though they are at an all time low. We may not watch fox news to get our case of nazi turrets or get falsified stories. One thing we are is that we are 45 million strong working on jobs most of these white folks do not want to do.
I do not doubt that there is folks coming over doing illegal things but america cannot put everyone in that category. Most immigrants coming over to better themselves for their family to give their kids a better chance.I do understand that crime on the border is a problem so passed a bill that confronts the isssue of border security instead pf attacking folks that pump 26 billion dollars in to the state economy. If they governor had any common sense she would have vetoed the bill but she was only concerned about making a statement in governorship.
64% of america support the law that only tells me that racism still lingers in this country. We have come to be hated because we do jobs better and cheaper than most folks will do but then why don't you attack those companies that hire illegal's. One thing is we as latino's seem to be underappreciated for doing things that we should be payed more for.
This law is racist and banning ethnic studies only reassures us that arizona is not a state worth visiting or worth even mentioning. This state is becoming more like the south used to be during the civil rights fight when martin luther king fought equality oh wait they did not want to recognize his birthday. My only thoughts now is that my nightmare does not come true that this type of immigration law comes here. The last thing i want to say is republicans keep saying the federal government has to failed to pass immigration reform. Then in that same speech you go on and say you are against immigration reform because the climate for it is not ready for it. Stop baming the feds when you are the federal government so get to work on a bi-partisanship bill.

No more drilling around america
How is it that these folks can be so ignorant when it comes to taking blame.BP says transocean is at fault then transocean says halliburton is at fault then halliburton blames BP is the responsible party. This is just not what the american people deserve especially those near the gulf. I find it dishearting that those doing the questioning receive money from those being questioned.
Now reports have surfaced saying the safety measures in place where never going to work. There was a series of operational and equipment failures due to hydrogen leaks. So now we have lost eleven life's due to the irresponsibility from BP because they only care about profits and not the safety of their employees. If they actually did their job there would be no need for these huge cleanups that the country is dealing with.
With so many families affected with this spill yet they still come to washington with their arrogance. Do they even care for those families that lost their family member in the explosion. One way they could show they care is in the future put those safety measures that would be there in any other country that has offshore drilling regulation. how about those fishermen whose life will never be the same when this oil hit's the coast and basically wipes out fish and shrimp that brings in the money to take care of their family.
5.6 Billion in profits for BP in the first quarter of 2010 but yet they could not foresee this disaster coming knowing full well that their safety measures we're not going to work. At one point before the explosion the well did not pass crucial test's that would identify there's going to be problem. But what has me pissed off is that there is no oversight committee on the oil industry. I know that businesses are about their profits to survive but that should not be the case because safety should be the at the forefront of their plans.
In ending this thought there should not be anymore offshore drilling now or any drilling in the future. Even with those safety measures being in place i just think that we do not need any more oil spills like these to happen again. Our livelihood depends on our land and we would not be able to do what we need if we filled it with oil. My thoughts and prayers go out to those families that will be affected because of this disastrous avoidable spill. One thing i want them to know is that reemain strong for that americans will come out on top even when faced with something that looks like it will never end.
